The Odyssey's behind-the-scenes stories are just as entertaining as the production itself. Robert Pattinson, who plays Antinous in Christopher Nolan's epic, revealed that he and Tom Holland were puzzled when they heard Matt Damon constantly shouting inside his trailer during filming.

In an interview with MTV UK, the actor said that at first he thought something was wrong: "Matt was in the trailer next door making these weird noises. He's such a nice guy... I thought he was on the phone and was a complete psychopath. He just kept yelling and yelling and yelling. I thought he was having a really bad experience in the bathroom. He was straining his voice just to sound older. Like, seriously, you're taking years off of your life doing that," Pattinson joked.

The mystery, however, had an explanation. Damon was preparing his voice to play Odysseus, the story's protagonist, aiming to convey the character's age and physical weariness. According to Pattinson, Tom Holland also heard the shouting and was impressed by his co-star's preparation method, calling the actor's commitment "incredible."

Everything you need to know about The Odyssey

The film is yet another adaptation of Homer's classic heroic poem, a continuation of The Iliad that tells the story of Odysseus (Ulysses in some translations), who spends 10 years trying to return home to Ithaca after victory in the Trojan War. Enraged, the god of the seas, Poseidon, does everything he can to keep him from returning to his wife, Penelope.

Matt Damon will play Odysseus. According to the Greek press, where much of the film was shot, Anne Hathaway will play the character's wife, Penelope. Meanwhile, Tom Holland will play Telemachus, Ulysses' son, with Zendaya playing the goddess Athena, Charlize Theron as Circe, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, and Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra — or Klytemnestra —, Agamemnon's wife.

The cast also includes more stars: Robert Pattinson, Jon BernthalMia Goth, John Leguizamo and many other names. Longtime Nolan collaborators are back as well, such as composer Ludwig Göransson (TENET and Oppenheimer) and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, who has shot Nolan's films since Interstellar.
