Teyonah Parris Cast in Christopher McQuarrie's Untitled Crime Thriller

According to exclusive information from Deadline, Teyonah Parris has been cast to star alongside Denzel Washington in an untitled thriller from Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists.

Christopher McQuarrie will direct, and the film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 1, 2027. Written by Scott Barkan and Gregg Zehentner, the script follows a former police detective serving a life sentence who receives a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer.

Granted humanitarian release due to having only six months to live, he returns home to try to reconcile with his estranged daughter and meet a grandson he didn't even know existed. The detective only wants to make peace and leave his dark past behind, but discovers that the past hasn't forgotten him.

The production is overseen by McQuarrie alongside Heather McQuarrie, Stuber, and Nick Nesbitt for United Artists. Joseph Restaino produces for Hungry Bull Productions, while Reza Moheet and Norman Aladjem handle Mainstay Entertainment. Katia Washington and Tommy Harper complete the production team. Tony Stopperan, Tim Honigman, and Joe Guest serve as executive producers.

Filming for the movie begins in November in New Jersey.
