Rose Byrne and Jenna Ortega have been cast to star in Nasty, a new film directed by Mary Bronstein – whom Byrne previously worked with on If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You.
The screenplay, written by Isabella Jarosz, follows a young gymnast fighting for a spot on the Olympic team who must overcome her greatest rival: her own coach.
The film is being produced by LuckyChap (the production company behind Barbie), alongside Ortega herself. Filming is expected to start in the fall. Ortega has also been cast in The Great Beyond, by J.J. Abrams, which arrives in October 2027.
The project is another one from Clockwork, Warner Bros.’ new label founded by former Neon executives, which also has the next film by Sean Baker, Ti Amo!, in its catalog.
