'Reacher' Star Talks About 'Fast Forever' Production Issues

During an appearance on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Alan Ritchson commented on Fast & Furious 11, the final film in the franchise, which appears to be facing production issues.

“I know a lot. We have conversations all the time. I’m an important part of those conversations, but there are just too many obstacles.”, the actor explained, before continuing. “It’s expensive to make this. It’s way too expensive to make these things. It doesn’t make much sense. There’s a more efficient way to shoot these movies. There has to be a way to show restraint while also honoring the fact that this world has grown into something massive. Everyone is trying to figure it out.”

Recently, journalist Steven Weintraub, from Collider, said that the film was not being shot and that the production’s director is currently working on a new project.

In June 2025, Diesel said he would bring back Paul Walker’s Brian for the final film. Walker died in 2013, during the filming of the seventh chapter, which became the series’ highest-grossing movie in 2015. Diesel did not provide details on how the production will bring back the actor’s character, Brian, but said the story takes place in Los Angeles and involves car culture. 

Fast & Furious 10 marked the franchise debut of Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson and Rita Moreno. Returning cast members include Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang.

Fast Forever will be directed by Louis Leterrier and is expected to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
