DCU’s Batman Could Start Filming Next Year, Insider Says

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Batman: The Brave and The Bold will begin filming sooner than we imagined. DC Studios wants to start production as early as 2027. 

It’s worth remembering that the film will be responsible for introducing the DCU’s new Batman under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The Brave and the Bold will focus on Damian Wayne, Bruce’s son. The story is inspired by Grant Morrison’s Batman run, when Bruce Wayne discovers Wayne’s existence before he becomes the new Robin.

This will be a fresh start for the Dark Knight within the new DC Universe, so we won’t be seeing Ben Affleck or Michael Keaton return to the role. Robert Pattinson will continue playing Bruce Wayne in the universe of The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, and its sequel remains in development at Warner Bros. It will take place on a separate timeline from the main universe overseen by James Gunn.

Known as the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin are comics’ most popular hero-and-sidekick pairing. In DC Comics, Bruce Wayne is regularly accompanied by an apprentice and possible successor. The best-known version of the Boy Wonder is Dick Grayson, who in the comics eventually becomes Nightwing and has even taken Bruce’s place after his death.

In The Brave and the Bold, however, Robin will be Damian Wayne, the fourth boy to take on the role after Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake. As the name suggests, Wayne is Bruce Wayne’s son, and his mother is Talia al Ghul, daughter of the villain Ra’s al Ghul, leader of the League of Shadows.
