All 'Camp Rock 3' References, Homages, and Easter Eggs

Camp Rock 3 introduces a new generation of actors to the franchise, but it also uses the opportunity to include references and tributes to the first two films, as well as other Disney Channel productions.

1- Connect 3

Right at the beginning, we get the update that Connect 3 (Jonas Brothers) is still hugely successful and is about to embark on a sold-out world tour. We also find out that Jason (Kevin Jonas) is the father of a boy named Lennon Mccarteney.

2- Mitchie’s mom

As expected, Maria Canals-Barrera returns as Mitchie’s mother, Connie Torres. She is no longer Camp Rock’s cook, but instead the camp director.

3- And how is Mitchie doing?

From the start, Connie already hints that Mitchie (Demi Lovato) has launched a very successful music career. Connie says: “This camp changed Mitchie’s life.” Later, when she finally appears, everything is confirmed when we learn that she really is on tour.

4- The Camp Rock 2 dance

In one of the first scenes, the campers recreate the clapping dance from Camp Rock 2 that became a meme, and Sage (Liamani) even jokes: “People still do that? I thought it was a myth.”

5- Mitchie’s song notebook

The protagonist of the first two films is also remembered through a songwriting notebook she left hidden beneath a loose floorboard in one of the camp cabins, and it’s Sage who finds it.

6- Milo Manheim appearance

One of the film’s special appearances is by Milo Manheim, who rose to fame in the Zombies franchise on Disney Channel and will play Flynn Rider in the live-action Tangled. In the movie, he plays Calvin Rogues, a rising singer-songwriter who comes to help the campers in a songwriting workshop.

7- Rehearsal set to Start the Party

The second phase of the competition to become Connect 3’s opening act is a performance meant to test the campers’ dancing and “star power.” That’s when Callie (Brooklynn Pitts) tells everyone to get in position and grab “a microphone and a hat,” exactly like Shane (Joe Jonas) says in Camp Rock, before everyone dances to Start The Party. The difference this time is that Lark (Sherry Cola) corrects the moment and tells them not to grab the hat.

8- “Get a clue, you walrus”

One of the biggest insults Tess (Meaghan Martin) throws at Mitchie in Camp Rock is “Get a clue, you walrus,” while twirling her fingers in front of her forehead. Camp Rock 3’s villain, Maddy (Ava Jean), does exactly the same thing at one point.

9- High School Musical dance move

Only the most attentive viewers might catch this one, but when they are singing Rythm's Only Right, Sage and Desi (Hudson Stone) walk sideways in the same way Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) do while singing Just Wanna Be With You in High School Musical 3.

10- “It’s Shane Gray, for the love of God”

Joe Jonas is already tired of dubbing over the audio where he says “I’m Shane Gray, for the love of God” from the first movie. Now one of Maddy’s friends uses the line. When Shane appears on stage at the Final Jam, he says: “It’s Shane Gray, for the love of God.”

11- “She’s really good!”

Another meme successfully recreated! In her brief special appearance, Demi Lovato repeats one of Mitchie Torres’ most iconic lines from Camp Rock. The first time, the actress said “She’s really good” in reference to Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner); now, she uses the line to refer to Sage.
