New '007' Has 6 Actors in the Running for James Bond Role, Report Says

According to Page Six, an American tabloid specializing in celebrity and entertainment news, six actors are in the running for the role of James Bond and are expected to take part in screen tests to play Agent 007 in September. They are: Jack Barton, Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal, Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Harris Dickinson.
According to the publication, Barton, 31, is currently seen as the favorite in the race. The British actor had a small role in Poor Things and has worked on productions such as SAS: Rogue Heroes and Heartstopper.
The expectation is that the actor chosen to play Bond will be announced later this year. Executives told the newspaper that Amazon MGM is looking for a very young actor who can carry a new franchise.

With more than 20 films released since the 1960s, 007 is one of the longest-running franchises in cinema. From the beginning, the Broccoli family has shepherded the character and his films—first with Cubby Broccoli, founder of Eon, and later with his children Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
In 2025, however, the Broccolis decided to sell creative control of the character to Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $1 billion. Within Amazon, Amy Pascal, producer of the Spider-Man films, and David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter adaptations, were chosen as the producers who will oversee the brand.
It is still unknown when the new James Bond film will be released, much less who will take on the role of Agent 007. The director, however, will be Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Dune), and the script will be written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
