'Squid Game' Star and Series Creator Reunite For New Dystopian Film
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk once again tackles inequality and social conflict in his new film

The world of Squid Game keeps leading to new partnerships, Lee Byung-hun, who plays the Front Man in the Netflix series, will reunite once again with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, this time on the big screen. The two are working together on the sci-fi thriller KO Club, Hwang’s first feature as a director in nearly a decade. Filming is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
In addition to Lee, the cast will include Park Hae-soo, who also appeared in Squid Game, as well as Oh Jung-se, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Kim So-jin.
The story is set in the near future, where wealthy people can buy back their own youth, putting an aging elite in conflict with an excluded younger generation. The title is an abbreviation of “Kill Old People Club”, reinforcing its critique of social inequality.
